South Norfolk Dwelling:
Underpinning of Victorian terraced property

Steria was appointed to assess and provide recommendations to stabilise the corner of an end terrace Victorian dwelling, which had dropped.

We discovered the issue was caused by shallow foundations on clay ground, and the fall to the corner had caused cracking to the masonry above.

We advised that the masonry should be stabilised and reinforced using stainless stell helical bars, bonded into cut slots in masonry, with underpinning to the corner, stepping up to each adjacent elevation.

We project managed the repair and restoration and provided ‘compiled as built detail’ to enable a Certificate of Structural Adequacy to be issued on completion.
